Work / Launch video
OpenMail. An inbox for every agent, explained in under a minute.
Captions included. Three versions were delivered: the original hook, a faster hook and the faster hook without the call to action.
Brief
OpenMail gives AI agents real email inboxes through an API. The video had to make sense to someone outside tech on first watch: show real email work, make it obvious that an agent is the one sending, make threads easy to follow, and be upbeat from the first frame.
Look
Monochrome UI on near-black, halftone and scanline texture, code used as a visual and one red word.
Process
-
01 Test before the first call
The night before we first talked, I made a four-second test in OpenMail’s own visual language: a halftone mailbox, a paper plane, their wordmark. Three weeks before launch, their team posted it as the sneak peek.
-
02 One frame per line
The storyboard mapped every voiceover line to what’s on screen and why, so script changes didn’t mean redesigning shots.
-
03 Build
Scenes built as systems, so they could be retimed when the voiceover changed.
A wall of agent inboxes, each one live.
Every agent gets its own address.
The opening line, set in code symbols.
-
04 Recut
The “stuck” beat, before and after a recut: 0.46 seconds shorter and one shot lighter, so the line lands faster.
Before 6.05s
After 5.59s
